Bobeck returns to Central Oklahoma as head coach

EDMOND, Okla. (AP) - Former Texas A&M assistant coach Nick Bobeck has been hired as the new head football coach at Central Oklahoma.

Bobeck, who played fullback for the Bronchos a decade ago, most recently was the head coach at Navarro (Texas) College and led the school to the 2010 junior college national championship.

Bobeck was 42-5 in four seasons at Navarro after serving for one season as an offensive line coach at Texas A&M. He replaces Tracy Holland, who was fired Dec. 1 after consecutive 2-9 seasons.

The Bronchos of NCAA Division II will begin play next season in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association after playing last season as an independent.

Bobeck says he hopes to rebuild UCO, which has won two Division II national titles, by basing his program around effort.
