Chengdu ranks 3rd on 'Wonderful China' list of cities

When Sichuan University?s ?Wonderful China? research group published its report on the development of provincial capitals and cities below the provincial level, on Dec 25.

The Top 10 are Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Xi?an, Ningbo, Fuzhou, Changsha, and Dalian. Because of incomplete statistics, the cities of Guiyang, Lhasa, Nanning, Changchun, Hong Kong, and Macao, as well as those on Taiwan, are not included.

The leader of the research group is Cai Shangwei, head of the university?s culture industry research center. The compilations involve dozens of university teachers and students. According to Gan Lu, a PhD, group member, and associate researcher in the culture industry center, in reaching their decision they covered various academic research reports and compiled a comprehensive index on the ecology, economy, politics, culture, and society of the cities, and employed a UN Human Development Index (HDI) method.?
